Regents and Presidential Scholarship: The Board of Regents established the Regents and Presidential Scholarships to support Hawaiʻi students with a record of outstanding academic achievement.

Regents Scholarships are awarded to 20 outstanding freshmen.

Requirements

SAT total score of at least 1950 (old SAT)/1380 (new SAT) or ACT combined score of at least 29

The Second Century Scholarship: is a need-based grant provided to Native Hawaiian students who demonstrate financial need. This scholarship is available to students across the UH System. The amount awarded will depend on the student’s financial need and funds available. To be eligible, Native Hawaiian students need only apply for financial aid through their campus financial aid offices. All regular aid deadlines apply.

The State of Hawaii B Plus Scholarship: is for Hawaiʻi residents who graduated from a high school after 2005, has at least a 3.0 high school grade point average, has completed a rigorous high school curriculum and demonstrates financial need.

The University of Hawaii Grants & Scholarships: The University of Hawaii offers various need–based and non–need–based scholarship assistance in the form of Opportunity Grants, Achievement Scholarships, International Student Scholarships, and Pacific Islander Scholarships. Criteria vary by campus and scholarship. U.S. citizens, nationals, permanent residents, and eligible noncitizens from the Republics of Palau and the Marshall Islands should complete the FAFSA and consult their campus’ financial aid office with any questions or concerns about their eligibility to file the FAFSA.

The University of Hawaiʻi Foundation awards about $5 million annually from various private and corporate donations.

The UH System Scholarships are open to students who are admitted as a regular student attending any of the ten campuses of the University of Hawaiʻi System.

These scholarships are made available by the generosity of private individuals and organizations who wish to reward students for a wide variety of accomplishments, including, but not limited to, academic achievement, service to the school and community, leadership ability, first-generation college-going, and specific major and career choices. Some take into consideration financial need and unique personal backgrounds.

Mānoa Academic Merit Scholarship
The Mānoa Academic Merit Scholarship is an automatic $2,000 scholarship per year for four years of undergraduate study for first-time degree seeking students. Students must have a 3.5 GPA, 1200 SAT or 23 ACT upon the time of application to UH Mānoa. Students who receive a New Warrior Scholarship or are accepted into DMEAP are ineligible for the Mānoa Academic Merit Scholarship.

Presidential Scholarship
Presidential Scholars receive a full-time, 12 credit per semester tuition waiver for two years of undergraduate study. All scholars receive a $4,000 per year stipend and a one time travel grant of $2,000. Presidential scholarships are awarded to Hawaii resident college juniors, with preference to current UH System students, who have a cumulative GPA of 3.7 for all college level coursework, a record of sustained progress in academic courses, and evidence of superior academic achievement or creative endeavor.

The UH Hilo Chancellors Scholarships: The UH Hilo campus offers a competitive Chancellor’s Scholarship, which covers full tuition for approximately 15 Hawaiʻi students. Factors considered include academic scholarship, leadership experience and potential, community service and financial need.
